The notes are very personal with Monroe ruminating about her life and experiences in her past that continue to affect her life, including these notes about the childhood influence of Ida Bolender that lingers into her adult life, reading in part, "Ida - I have still been obeying her - it's not only harmful for me to do so but unrealality [sic] because in my work - I don't want to obey her any longer."
