Attributed to James Ward (British, 1769-1859) Black-spotted Rabbit in a Landscape Unsigned, inscribed "James/Ward" on a gummed label on the stretcher. Oil on canvas, 8 x 10 1/2 in. (20.5 x 27.0 cm), framed. Condition: Minor retouch, craquelure, surface grime. Provenance: From the estate of Ruth Troiani, Connecticut. Ruth and her husband Dominick married in New Orleans in 1942. They began collecting antiques shortly thereafter, and started dealing in antiques in the 1960s.
