Three Needlework Samplers and a Hollow-cut Silhouette, Beverly, Massachusetts, early 19th century, one with twelve lines of alphabet worked in wool threads, a small sampler with two lines of alphabet and two lines of stitched patterns, and a sampler with nine lines of alphabet and numbers, stitched inscription reading: "Hannah Standley [ sic ] Aged 9 1811" and accompanying hollow-cut silhouette of Hannah Stanley in a black frame, all samplers stitched to cotton backing, (toning, one sampler with hole), ht. to 10 3/8, wd. to 8 in. Note: According to a note on the back of the silhouette, Hannah Stanley was born June 30, 1802, was married to Captain Jonathan Batchelder, and died April 27, 1882.
