Chippendale Mahogany Linen Press, possibly North Shore, Massachusetts, late 18th century, the cornice molding overhangs the dentil-molded frieze above the recessed and scrolled panel doors and the mid-molding on the lower case of nine cockbeaded drawers and shaped bracket feet, refinished, (imperfections),ht. 73 3/4, wd. of upper case 46 5/8, wd. of lower case 48, dp. of upper case 22 1/2, dp. of lower case 23 1/2 in. Provenance: When the consignor purchased this piece in 1977, he was told it had been acquired from the Curtis family and had stood in a Wenham, Massachusetts, (North Shore) home for many generations.
