Turned and Painted Maple Lehnware Covered Spice Jar, Joseph Long Lehn, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, c. 1870, blue-painted knop on lid painted with strawberries, the side painted with flowers, green, red, and black borders on a pink ground, ht. 4 1/2 in. Note: Joseph Long Lehn (1798-1892) lived in Hammer Creek Valley, Elizabethtown Twp., Lancaster County, Pennsylvania, and was a farmer and woodworker. He decorated chairs and small turned wooden objects from 1850 into the 1890s.
