School of Charles-Olivier de Penne (French, 1831-1897), "Hunting Dogs at Rest", oil on canvas. Signed lower left "G. Maxius". Painting depicting six white to grey hunting dogs sitting and laying down on a curved country dirt path in with trees and grass behind them, presumably resting after an active hunt. Slightly overcast sky overhead. Verso of canvas with stenciled "12" and "P.B." as well as pictorial stamp on stretcher. Framed 28" x 21.125". Unframed 24" x 17".
