American, Mid 19th Century. American Rococo Revival carved rosewood half tester canopy bed by Prudent Mallard (New Orleans, Louisiana). The canopy tester bed with arched serpentine front supported by cluster-columned head posts. Headboard with carved crest depicting a shield form medallion flanked by pierced scroll and foliate carving. Generous rails with pierced brackets and carving. Foot posts with clustered supports with finial tops. Canopy with pleated white silk fabric upholstery. Approximate height (to top finials) 106.5", width 70", depth 90". Provenance: M.S. Rau Antiques, New Orleans, Louisiana in June of 1998 whereby acquired by Mr. and Mrs. Burkemper, St. Louis, Missouri. Copy of original invoice available upon request. _x000D_
