Needlework Sampler, made by Sally Hemingway, Waterford, Vermont, 1828, silk threads on a linen ground with three rows of alphabets over stitched lettering "Sally Hemingway was born in Waterford Vermont August the 28th 1816," and "June the 21st AD 1828," the lettering surrounded on three sides with a geometric floral border, enclosed in a sawtooth border, (fading), 8 x 17 1/4 in. , in a later painted and gilt gesso frame. Note: A genealogical search records that Sally Hemingway was born on August 28, 1816, to Sylvanus and Elizabeth Hemingway. She married Horatio S. Hutchinson, May 28, 1843, in Concord, Essex County, Vermont.
