Chippendale Carved Mahogany and Maple Dressing Table, possibly Hanover or Hingham, Massachusetts, late 18th century, replaced brasses, refinished, (minor imperfections), ht. 28 3/4, wd. 29 1/4, dp. 19 in. Note: The cabinetmaker, in producing this dressing table, exhibited idiosyncratic construction techniques and carving, as demonstrated by the frontal claw-and-ball feet, and the method he employed in applying the crotch mahogany top to the base.
