Cobalt Blue Decorated Stoneware Jar, J. & E. Norton Pottery, Bennington, Vermont, 1850-61, wide-mouth three-gallon ovoid jar with applied lug handles, decorated with incised lines around the shoulder and a cobalt blue depiction of a stag beside a post and rail fence, impressed maker's mark on neck, (rim chips, hairlines), ht. 12 3/4 in. 1/2 x 1/4 in. shallow interior rim chip, 3/4 x 1/2 in. and 1/4 in. shallow exterior rim chips; several hairlines coming down from the rim two go from above handles, others are about 6 1/2, 6, 5, 4 and some connect to others, minor old tight spider to exterior lower side.
