Molded Sheet Copper Gamecock Weather Vane, America, early 19th century, flattened full-body figure with zinc legs, embossed sheet copper tail, mounted on copper rods, gray-brown surface with softly worn areas of white, black, and gilt, and scattered areas of verdigris, including wooden stand, (minor dents), total ht. 22 3/4 in. Literature: This weather vane is illustrated in American Folk Sculpture by Robert Bishop, E.P. Dutton & Co., New York, 1974. slightly dented on one side of body, horizontal copper rod with verticalcrack at joinery.
