American, probably New England, late 19th century. Unusual American centennial hook rug, wool on burlap, featuring an exterior and interior scene. The centralized interior scene depicting a living area with grandfather clock, secretary, glowing fireplace, small chair and oval floor rug, the exterior with scene to the front with double horse and stagecoach, a family to the right lower corner dated 1776, another figure with horse towards the back, a church, flowering trees and other architecture. Height 29.5", width 48.5".
