Sousa, John Philip (1854-1932), Autograph letter signed, February 10th, 1885, two pages, recipient unknown, enthusiastically praising a march that has been sent to him, "I regret exceedingly that I didn't hear from you before the programme was arranged for the (? ) ball, as it would have afforded me pleasure to insert your march", and also detailing the instrumentation for the Marine band, tipt to a surround mat, 9 1/2 by 7 3/4 in. (minor fold soiling).
