Luciano Mecheon (Mexican, 20th century). "Pegasus - c.1970, hammered and welded brass, signed and marked to underside of lifted paw. Large and skillfully rendered modernist sculpture depicting the mythological winged horse Pegasus with three hooves flat to ground and front left leg bent at the knee, his head turning to right between large lifted wings, the back of each leg with wire form attached wings above ankle, the whole of the sculpture body created in patchwork with exposed welds. Marks to underside of paw "023" above "Mexico" and "150" above "Luciano". Approximately 28" tall x 27.5" wide x 11.5" deep.
