Goyard (French, founded 1853), circa 1920s. A rare Goyard shoe steamer trunk covered in Goyard signature chevron canvas with brown leather banding and leather bail carrying handles with stamped initials 'L.M'. The trunk hinged at one end and opening to reveal three roomy shoe compartments to each side lined in checkerboard plaid fabric. The exterior with remnant of travel label 'Le Grand Hotel / Et Hotel Des Alpes along with a single brass closure stamped: "Goyard / Aine" and "177" below the lock. Also bearing the brass label 'Malles Goyard / 233, rue Saint-Honoré, Paris/ Monte-Carlo, Biarritz, Bordeaux. Approximate height 12.75", width 20" depth 9.25". The interior measurements for the shoe compartments are as follows: Approximate height 12", width for the end compartments 6.25", width for the middle compartments 6.37", depth ranges from 3.75" to 4".
