Attributed to Jacob Maentel (American, 1763-1863) Portrait of a Gentleman. Unsigned. Watercolor on paper, c. 1830, depicting the gentleman, dressed in black trousers and waistcoat with tails, white shirt with frill and black cravat, standing in a sparsely sprigged landscape, a note affixed to the backing is inscribed "Mr. Horner, Lived on Union Rd. Williamsville, N.Y.," 11 x 5 1/4 in., mounted in a mahogany veneer frame. Condition: Paper laid down onto cardboard, toning, scattered stains.
