Inro Case, Japan, Meiji period (1868-1911), black lacquer with a gold flecked ground, maki-e designs in gold and silver of lotus plants, interior with a gold inscription of a Buddhist sutra, inscriptions on the inside drawer fronts are of the inro formerly contained within, (some loss). Provenance: R. Bensabott, Chicago, Illinois; together with a letter stating it was the property of Baron Morimasa Takei, dated August 24th, 1935.
