The Automaton Paper Walking Toy in Original Box, Germany, c. 1850s, a 7-inch figure stands above the mechanism which oscillates the feet to make the figure appear to walk (mechanism sticky), six locking scenery changes, eight original one-sided costume changes, all hand-colored with glossy finish, including flower gardener, mother with mature child, pompous lawyer, Scottish highlander, comic backpacker with hat atop his pack, cook serving meal, duck hunter, and hussar with sabre, box 11 1/2 x 12 x 2 1/2 in. Note: A similar, but smaller, version was sold in The Collections of Maurine Popp auction, Skinner, 2196, lot 376, April 2003.
