Connecticut or New York maple and oak banister back armchair, mid 18th c. , the downward sloping crest over 5-molded slats, scrolled arms, and sausage turned stretchers, retaining an early black surface. For a similar example, see American Antiques from the Israel Sack Collection vol. IV , pl. 3743. Provenance: Edgar & Charlotte Sittig; Asher J. Odenwelder, Jr., 1958.
