After Rosa Bonheur (French, 1822-1899). "The Horse Fair", oil on canvas, signed and dated lower right "E Payne 1859". Painting depicts a group of horses on a dirt path, some with riders or guides, running, many bucking or rearing back, headed toward a grassy scene at right behind trees where figures await their arrival, with a band of trees running from right end of composition to far left side capped by a cathedral dome in silhouette. Framed approximately 36.5" x 7", unframed approximately 29" x 63".
