GILT CARVED WOOD & GESSO BAROMETER, 18TH CENTURY, H 39", W 17":The barometer is heavily adorned by various objects and motifs. The piece is crowned by a footed bowl of that is overflowing with fruit that is just above hour glass that flank either side of the barometer. Ostentatious carvings of garland are draped from the sides, to the base of the face of the barometer. The base contains more ornamentation of fruit and leaf motifs.
