Pair of Pennsylvania painted bowback windsor chairs, ca. 1800 , each impressed on the underside "L. Allwine", both retaining their original black painted surface, the seats with multiple tack holes suggesting that these chairs originally had upholstered seats.(Lawrence Allwine worked in Philadelphia in the late 18th century.) Provenance: Titus Geesey.
