Spanish, 19th century. Pair of Portuguese Colonial carved wood polychrome decorated candlesticks now fashioned into electrified table lamps, with elongated candlesleeve resting in the quadroon and turned candlecup supported by a turned platform mounted onto a turned tapered fluted stem carved at the base with leaf tips and raised on a slightly oval base with three bun feet. The whole with traces of red and cream pigment along with parcel gilt Approximate height 28.75" (with candlesleeve), height 21.37" ( to candlecup), diameter of base 6.25". Provenance: Purchased from Withers and Lanham Designs, INC located at 375 Pharr Road, N.E. Suite 205, Atlanta, GA 30305 on March 26,1987. Copy of receipt is available upon request.
