Johann Phillip Alberti, attributed(Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1754-1780) , rare pewter flagon with ball shaped thumb piece, a lid with heart shaped spout, the body with double c-scroll handle and the inscription "Georg-Kirchen 1763", 15" h. For a nearly identical example, see Herr Pewter in Pennsylvania German Churches , plate 166 and 167. An identical flagon, also inscribed "Georg-Kirchen 1763" and purchased from the Costar family of Homsburg, PA was sold at the Wichmann sale, Sotheby's June 1983, lot 154. Provenance: Collection of Arthur J. Sussel, Parke-Bernet Galleries, inc., March 1959, lot 266.
