AMERICAN OIL ON CANVAS, C. 1880-1910, 12" X 17", WINDMILL POINT, GROSSE POINTE, MI IN THE 19TH C.:Unsigned. Antiqued frame. Might be by Robert Hopkin or by Catherine Reynolds (who is also mentioned in the provenance as the possible artist), or it could be by someone else. On the back is information that says At Detroit Historical Museum this painting was examined by 12 art experts - some said it was a Robert Hopkins and 5 said it was not ( Feb. 1955 ). Robert Hopkins died March 1910 . This is a scene of the Canadian shore facing Belle Isle or more probably the American shore facing peach isle at Windmill Pointe.
