Louis VXI-style Marble-top Three-drawer Commode, France, 19th century, with a figured gray Carrara marble top, drawer fronts veneered and framed by geometric bands mounted with brass escutcheons and circular pulls, and flanked on either side by string-inlaid columns with classical-style mounted bronze capitals and brass-mounted feet, matching columnar supports to back feet with additional string inlay to sides, ht. 34 1/2, wd. 37, dp. 19 1/2 in. Back of marble (where it meets wall) is unfinished. Shrinkage cracks to sides of case. Scattered veneer loss and repairs. Worming. Light water damage to upper left corner of right side of case.
