Russian Silver-gilt, Enamel, and Stone-set Chess Set, 20th century, the board with satin finish black and gold playing surface, mounted with gallery of spherule-topped uprights suspending chains, the sides mounted with three green and white basse taille enamel plaques, the central plaque with eagle crest, flanked by plaques of battle scenes, the corners of board mounted with green enamel cloaked sentinels, flanked by volute acanthus leaves mounted with amethyst and pearl cabochons, on red velveteen lined wood base, and bifurcate cabochon-set scroll feet, the pieces enameled in kelly green, or in chartreuse with white accenting, all with filigree accented bases, the kelly pieces with turquoise colored cabochon stones, the chartreuse with rose cut red hardstones, with velveteen bases, board 21 1/2 x 21 1/2, piece ht. to 3 3/4 in.
