Small Floral-painted Slant-lid Box and a Schoolgirl Theorem-decorated Needle Case, early 19th century, the box, likely made in northern Europe, with polychrome-painted flowers around the sides, the needle case in the form of a book with painted fruit on one side and flower blossoms on the reverse, with applied gold foil edges, inscribed "The Palm/obtained in the second class in D. Sampson's School by Lucy Eveline Holmes/Kingston Sept. 24th 1820" on the interior pages, dia. 3 to 8 in.
