Embroidered Panel Depicting Horses, China, late 18th/19th century, the eight horses at rest on the grassy bank of a lake, with a monkey perched on a rock surrounded by peonies and pairs of magpies and parrots flying amidst a willow tree, the inscription "ba jun xiong feng" (may you have the fortitude of eight horses) embroidered on the upper left, 48 x 15 1/2 in. , with later brocade border woven with lotus flowers, glazed and framed.
