Rare mermaid lamp, New York, ca. 1899; Patinated bronze, nautilus shell, single socket; Molded GUDEBROD and stamped TIFFANY STUDIOS NEW YORK 28631; 17" x 5" x 8"; Gudebrod, an American Art Nouveau sculptor, designed this mermaid lamp base in 1899. Difficult to manufacture, it was produced in very small numbers for only a few years, with either shell or glass shades. One example is part of the Chrysler Museum permanent collection.
