A trophy featuring "El jugador de pelota Tlachcli o Ulama" [The ball player Tlachtli O Ulama] presented to Pelé in 2004, by Mexico's CONADE (National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport) and CODEME (Mexican Sports Confederation). The trophy represents a player in a pre-Hispanic, Mesoamerican ballgame, a sport with ritual associations played since 1,400 BCE. The bronze tone trophy depicts the player in motion, hitting the ball with his hip.
