A group of three medallions owned by Pelé to commemorate his retirement from Brazilian football in 1974. The front of the medallions feature a profile portrait of Pelé along with the words "Edson Arantes do Nascimento - Pele." The back of the medallions feature an image of a football on a laurel inside a football stadium surrounded by the words "Ano Comemorativo Da Despedida do Futebol" [Commemorative Year of Farewell to Football]. Two of the medallions are sterling silver and are housed in individual black felt cases. On the interior of each case is a sterling silver plaque that reads "Náo ha nada mais alegre/ no vida do que uma bola/ quicando na area/ Nem nada mais triste do/ que uma bola vazia" [There is nothing more joyful in life than a bouncing ball in the area or anything sadder than an empty ball] along with a facsimile of Pelé's signature.
