American Watch Co. (American, 1859-1885). 18k gold case pocket watch of standard form with engine turned, engraved and enameled case with scrolled foliate and geometric patterning. Circular white enameled clock face with black Roman numerals and "AMERICAN WATCH CO." at top above second subdial, clock with Waltham movement (#288752). Interior of case marked with "GW & Co.". above mark with crown and "18" (18 for 18k and acid tested as 18k quality) above "8071". Interior also engraved with "M Adell Madson Jan. 7th 1868". Pocket watch held on a 50" curb link gold filled chain. Diameter of case approximately 1.75". Weight of pocket watch (excluding chain) 65 grams. Provenance: Property from the Heisey Estate (of Heisey Glass Company), Newark, Ohio.
