“Golden Clouds” Melly Frères & Ruegger, Geneva. Made for the Chinese market, circa 1800. Very fine and rare, oval, gold, enamel and pearl set pendant watch with calendar. Accompanied by the original leather covered fitted case. Two-body, oval, stepped bezel, extended flat band decorated on both sides with filigree clouds and split pearls within a translucent blue enamel border decorated with multicoloured gold paillons. White enamel, oval, with Arabic chapter ring and outer minute track, Arabic quarter hour numerals, calendar dial above and regulation sector below. Blued steel Breguet hands. 34 x 19 mm., gilt fullplate, fixed spring barrel, cylinder escapement, three-arm brass balance, blued steel flat balance spring. Movement signed. Dim. 53 x 38 mm.
