“Silver Pair Cased” John Moore, London. Made circa 1700. Fine, silver pair-cased pocket watch with a 19th Century W.J. Moore watch paper. Outer: two-body, polished, square hinge; inner: two-body, "bassine", with deep back, polished. Silver, champlevé radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with five-minute Arabic numerals on polished cartouches, center chased with scrolling and a mask. Blued steel "tulip and poker" hands. 42 mm., hinged, gilt brass full plate with divided vase pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, plain steel three-arm balance, flat balance spring, single-footed cock with straight line base and streamers engaved with two masks. Dial and movement signed. Diam. 57 mm. To be sold without reserve Notes The present watch was previously sold by Antiquorum, Geneva, November 16, 2002, Lot 10.
