"The Tavern" Romilly, à Paris. Made circa 1775. Fine, 20K gold and painted on enamel pocket watch. Two-body, “Louis XV”, the back painted with a scene of the interior of a tavern with two gentlemen seated at a table, the border and bezel chased with scrolls. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute track with five-minute Arabic numerals, winding aperture at 3 o’clock. Gold “Louis XV” hands. 34 mm, hinged, gilt brass full plate with pentagonal baluster pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental cock, silver regulation disc. Movement signed. Diam. 42 mm.
