“Poche Surprise” Gübelin, Lucerne, movement No. 9003, case No. 11264. Case by Verger Frères, No. 11264. Made circa 1930. Very fine and rare, platinum and diamond-set, keyless, Art Deco “montre de sac à volets” purse and desk watch. Rectangular, the front and back engraved with two parallel lines, shutters opening by pushpieces on the sides, set with a total of 32 square-cut diamonds, the shutters set with six baguette diamonds, hinged square inner case. Brushed silver, black Art Deco numerals, outer minute track. Polished steel "cubiste" hands. Cal. 9’’’, rhodium-plated, 15 jewels, straightline lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance, flat balance spring, index regulator. Dial signed. Dim. 44 x 38 mm.
