“Cupid in the Clouds” Czapek et Cie, a Genève, No. 2359. Made for the Polish market, circa 1847. Fine and rare, 18K gold and painted on enamel lady’s pendant watch. Four-body, “bassine et filet”, polished bezel and border, reeded band, the back cover decorated with a painted on enamel scene of a winged cupid resting on a cloud within a scroll border and outer white enamel and gold foliate border. Hinged gold cuvette signed and with the technical details in polish. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute divisions. Blued steel “Breguet” hands. 27 mm., frosted gilt, bar caliber, cylinder escapement, three-arm balance, flat blued steel balance spring, index regulator. Cuvette and movement signed. Diam. 30 mm.
