“The Country Dance” Prevost Freres, à Toulouse. Made circa 1820. Fine and rare, 18K gold musical pocket watch with quarter repeating. Three-body, “Empire”, polished, reeded band. Hinged gilt metal cuvette. Gold with brushed chapter ring with radial Roman numerals, outer polished minute ring with dot divisions, the center engraved with a scene of country folk dancing in a wooded glade. Blued steel Breguet hands. 52 mm., frosted gilt, standing barrel, cylinder escapement, gold three-arm balance, flat blued steel balance spring, polished steel endplate, index regulator, repeating on gongs activated by depressing the pendant, sur plateau musical movement with 25 blued steel tuned blades and six smaller blued steel blades playing the high notes, activated at will by a button in the band. Dial and cuvette signed. Diam. 59 mm. Notes It is very rare to find a musical watch in such excellent condition.
