“Euterpe” Patry & Chaudoir à Genève, No. 8406, circa 1790. Very fine 18K yellow gold and enamel pearl-set watch. Double-body, the gold bezels engraved with foliate decoration and set with small split-pearls, the back with a polychrome enamel depiction of “Euterpe”, the muse of music, on a royal blue enamel over a guilloché ground with gold paillonné decoration. White enamel with Arabic numerals, outer minute track, outermost Arabic five minutes. Pierced gold hands. Gilt brass full plate with cylindrical pillars, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, gilt brass continental cock, polished steel end-piece. Signed on the dial and back plate. Diam. 58 mm. Notes Patry & Chaudoir were watchmakers recorded in Geneva from circa 1791-1795.
