From precision, competition, sports timekeeping and design awards to watches for professional use in space or underwater, OMEGA identifies with a world of achievements. This includes the conquest of space, numerous precision records and design awards, as well as the launch in 1999 of the revolutionary Co-Axial calibre, one of the 20th century’s major innovations in mechanical watchmaking. In addition, OMEGA will be the Official Timekeeper to the Olympic Games for the 23rd time at Beijing 2008, and will perform the same role for Vancouver 2010 and London 2012. It is also a Main Partner providing integral technical assistance to the Solar Impulse project, which aims to fly an aircraft around the world in 2011 using only the power of the sun. Earlier this year OMEGA also confirmed its arrival in the top echelon of collectors’ brands when the “OMEGAMANIA” auction, staged by Antiquorum in Geneva and broadcast live to the Basel watch fair, generated a total of CHF 6,536,911. Featuring vintage OMEGA watches, all 300 lots were sold for three times the pre-sale estimate and several world records were set including the highest price ever paid for any OMEGA at auction and additionally for a non complicated self-winding wristwatch.
