“Japanese Coach Watch” Japanese, circa 1815. Rare and fine, silver, hour-striking coach watch with matching silver chain. Double-body, “bassine”, fully pierced and engraved with flowers and foliage. Revolving dial with sliding silver plates for the unequal Japanese hours, the half hours made of bronze, inner Arabic mean time ring. Blued steel fixed pointer. Gilt brass dial plate engraved with flowers and foliage. Hinged double train, gilt brass full plate with turned pillars, the back plate engraved with flowers and foliage, fusee with chain, verge escapement, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring and pierced and engraved gilt brass cock with blued steel end-piece. The striking train with going barrel and locking plate. Striking on a bell (restored). Diam. 80 mm.
