“Art-Deco Miniature Clock” No. 9265/28920, probably made by Albert Prevost, circa 1930. Very fine, 8-day, 18K gold, enamel, onyx and diamond-set miniature desk clock with the original key and fitted gold tooled red morocco case. Rectangular, polished, each side decorated with geometric patterns in black and red enamel, the top with a bevel-edged onyx panel mounted with diamond set initials “GC”, raised on a polished black onyx base, shuttered winding holes. Silver with Arabic numerals, inner minute track, engine turned center. Blued steel hands. By Majestic Watch Co., Swiss, rectangular, rhodium plated, line decoration, 15 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance with two adjustments, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dim. 53 x 34 x 26 mm. To be sold without reserve Notes Although unsigned, the design of this clock and the distinctive outer case and numbering can only have come from Cartier’s workshops. A clock numbered 28918, only two numbers preceding the present clock, was sold by Antiquorum, Geneva, on April 24, 2004, lot 133. That clock was signed by Cartier and made by Albert Prevost in 1928.
