Wetzel Geometric Artist(Berks, Lehigh, and Northampton Counties, Pennsylvania, active 1780-1816) - Fraktur drawing, hand-drawn watercolor and ink on paper, elaborate geometric design with multiple diamond borders enclosing a square with star corners and floral center, executed in shades of red, yellow, and green, inscribed at the base "Anna Wetzel, 6 1/2" x 5 5/8". Provenance: Helen Janssen Wetzel collection. Pictured in Fraktur Writings or Illuminated Manuscripts by Dr. Donald A. Shelley, plate 62. Dr. Shelley assigned the name "Wetzel Geometric Artist" to this artist.
