Four-Color Gold Jn. Frs. Ete. Bonnet a Geneve. Made circa 1770. Fine, 20K four-color gold pocket watch. To be sold without reserve Two-body, “Louis XVI”, the back decorated with a vari-colored gold scene of a seated lady in a garden with a dog and two doves above, outer swag, palmette and flower border, bezel with stiff-leaf decoration. White enamel, radial Arabic numerals, outer dot minute divisions and five-minute Arabic numerals, winding aperture at 4 o’clock. Pierced gilt hands. 35 mm, hinged, gilt brass full plate with turned conical pillars, fusee and chain, verge escapement, micrometric potence adjustment, plain brass three-arm balance, flat balance spring, continental cock with polished steel endpiece, silver regulation disc. Movement signed. Diam. 44 mm. Notes The use of four colors of gold (yellow, rose, white and green) is very unusual, especially the green gold used for the lady’s dress.
