Italian, 20th C. Pair of life-size Italian white glazed ceramic figural jardinieres modeled as a whippet with alert expression, ears pricked wearing a green and lemony yellow collar hung with mauve tassels, seated on a green pillow with yellow and orange-brown trim on four scrolled legs. Apparently unmarked. Height 44", width 18", depth 10.5". Jardinieres come with simulated marble stands measuring additional height 20", width 14", depth 20". Provenance: Former catcher with the Chicago Cubs and one of Nashville's most prolific restaurateurs.
