RATEL - SILVER WATCH WITH CATHOLIC TIMES OF PRAYER Ratel, Horloger Bte. De N.S.P. le Pape, 53 Rue Monsieur le Prince, Paris, No. 12043. Made circa 1880. Fine and unusual, silver pocket watch with special dial indicating Catholic hours of prayer. Four-body, the bezel cast with a repeated pattern, flat band with latin inscription, hinged back cast and chased with Jesus on the cross within a border to match the bezel. Hinged silver cuvette. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, gilt sun, cross and crown of thorns in the center radiating out into 12 divisions, each sector with prayer dedications relating to the crucifixtion. Blued steel hammer and nail and spear hands. 18''', matte gilt, bar caliber, 8 jewels, cylinder escapement, three-arm balance, flat balance spring, index regulator. Notes Dial and cuvette signed.
