FROIDEVAUX - THE EGYPTIAN FOUNTAIN Froidevaux à Berne. Made in Switzerland, circa 1820. Fine and rare, quarter-striking, black marble and gilt-bronze, 8-day going table clock. To be sold without reserve Arch-top rectangular black marble with a fi nial of two doves on clouds, bezel chased with palmettes and fl anked by caryatids, a pair of sphinxes at the base fl anking a lion mask and shell fountain, rectangular black marble base with a gilt mount of a pair of Syrian lions, an urn between, gilt bun feet. White enamel with radial Roman numerals, outer minute track. Blued steel Breguet hands. 9.5 cm., fl at-bottomed gilt-brass plates, going barrels for both trains, anchor escapement, silk suspension, striking work on the backplate in the Swiss manner, striking the quarters with two hammers on two bells. Dial and movement signed. Dim. 38 x 22.5 x 14 cm.
