JUVET MADE FOR THE CHINESE MARKET POCKET WATCH Juvet. Made for the Chinese market, circa 1860. Very fine, silver and painted on enamel center-seconds pocket watch. Three-body, Chinese, spring-loaded back fi nely painted on enamel depicting a noble young woman, red guilloché background, the front bezel set with pearls, the back with engraved champlevé enamel pattern. Silver cuvette hinged to the movement ring. White enamel, radial Roman numerals, outer minute and seconds divisions with fi fteen-minute Arabic numerals. Brass spade hands. 48 mm., gilt brass, fully engraved "Chinese" caliber, escapement jeweled, free-standing barrel, counterpoised lateral lever escapement, two-arm brass balance with fl at rim, fl at steel balance spring, index regulator. Case signed. Diam. 56 mm.
