Three-piece, "variée", polished and brushed, stepped inclined bezel. Matte silvered with applied pink gold Roman numerals and dot indexes, outer Arabic dark and light revolving chapter ring for day and night hours and the World Time chapter ring, bearing the name of 31 cities, regions and countries around the world according to the Louis Cottier World Time Patent. Pink gold circle and dauphine hands. 36 mm (16’’’), rhodium-plated, fausses-côtes decoration, 17 jewels, straight line lever escapement, cut bimetallic compensation balance adjusted to temperature, blued steel Breguet balance spring, index regulator. Dial, case and movement signed. Diam. 46 mm. Notes A fi ne example of the Agassiz World-Time watch in pink gold. The "World Time" system was invented around 1935 by Louis Cottier (1894-1966), the famous independent watchmaker in Geneva. Considered by many to be the most practical and important inventions of modern horology, his "World Time" patents were used by Agassiz and other major manufacturers in the Swiss watch industry, including Patek Philippe, Rolex and Vacheron & Constantin.
